Janette and Bruce Argyle moved to the Yarra Valley from Melbourne in 2004, opening their first B&B.  Over the years, they have steadily expanded their business and the ‘Argyles Yarra Valley’ brand now encompasses six environmentally friendly B&Bs, a 20 acre vineyard and farm that produces award winning wine, and the Aveda Concept Day Spa.  Strong supporters of local businesses, they employ local staff, use local suppliers and buy locally grown seasonal produce and home baked items for their guests.

Argyles offers quality accommodation in Healesville, the heart of the Yarra Valley. Guests can treat themselves to one of the private executive suites in the southern wing of an historic Edwardian homestead, overlooking two acres of tranquil award-winning botanic gardens, just a short walk from the town centre.

Two private executive suites are available – the Fernshaw and the Yarra suites. Both suites have been beautifully restored and furnished with antiques from the era. Original features such as lead light stained glass windows, wood floors and panelling evoke days of yesteryear. Historic Healesville offers a good selection of cafes, shops, art spaces and even a winery for your convenient perusal. Both suites include breakfast made from locally and seasonally sourced Yarra Valley produce in the room rate. Also offered are wedding, honeymoon and Aveda Spa packages – visit their website for further details.

With its own separate entrance, the spacious Fernshaw Suite’s positioning on the first floor offers majestic views over the lawns and gardens towards Mt Riddell from its bay window and private balcony.

The suite has its own in-room deluxe European spa, en-suite bathroom, queen-sized 1890s mahogany bed, dining area, Austar TV and cooking facilities. A covered ‘sun-room’ is the ideal spot for an afternoon’s reading in the winter sun and the garden’s gazebo gives welcome shade in the summer.

With the Yarra Suite opening straight onto beautiful mature gardens from its own entrance, the gazebo and gardens are yours to be enjoyed.

This extremely spacious suite has a 1900s queen-sized brass bed and a comfortable sitting room area – perfect for watching a movie on Austar or curling up with a good book. Afterwards, be indulgent and take a relaxing spa in the en-suite bathroom. A covered ‘sun-room’ is the ideal spot for an afternoon’s reading in the winter sun and the garden’s gazebo gives welcome shade in the summer.

Argyle Vineyard

Argyles also offers quality wines for sale including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sparkling Malbec.

Their wines exhibit solid structure and complexity, and they won their first award for their 2010 Sauvignon Blanc, taking home a bronze medal from the Yarra Valley Wine Show. All grapes are hand pruned and picked, and their wines are produced with minimal intervention, using environmentally sustainable practices.
