Take a walk in some of the most beautiful rainforest you will see anywhere in Australia.
Just past Warburton at the junction of Mount Donna Buang Road and Acheron Way, you will find one of the Yarra Valley’s hidden gems – The Warburton Rainforest Gallery. The Gallery has two attractions – the first is a 15 metre high, 40 metre long aerial walkway named the ‘Skywalk’ that is one of only three in Australia. The second attraction is a boardwalk that descends into the Myrtle Beech Rainforest leading you past the beautiful but oddly named Cement Creek.
This is not a long walk by any standards. It’s only about 350 metres around the loop track, so if you are a bush walker looking for a workout then this will not satisfy. This is probably why Parks Victoria have appropriately named this a forest “gallery”.

Here’s a tip: To maximise your appreciation of this pristine rainforest, as you wander along the railed pathway, pace yourself as though you are, in effect, strolling through an art gallery or museum. It’s definitely a ‘strolling’ walk and should not be rushed. Take your time, speak softly, fill your lungs with the crisp, clean air, savour the sweet smell of the rainforest and allow the sights and sounds to melt away the pressures and cares of the world. The Rainforest Gallery only needs 45 minutes of your time and, wonderfully, is completely free!
To get a feel for the rainforest walk watch our video story featuring an exclusive interview with Park Ranger Mitch Nash, as he shares his extensive knowledge of the forests flora and fauna and gives a unique insight into what’s involved in being a park ranger.
LOL, I spilt my coffee I laughed so hard. Look forward the next video.
Thanks for the comment Russel. We will be sending you a copy of HG Nelsons’ “The Really Stuffed Guide To Good Food.”
Mitch Nash is sooooooo funny we watched it over and over again!!!! I wish he could teach me how to catch a mutton bird!! and how to do yoga!!
Thanks for your comment Alora. We will be sending you a prize courtesy dotheyarravalley.com.au.
Wow! I thought that I was the only one that spent unnumbered hours counting the leaves, but after the short time that I have spent watching you Mitch, I now know where I belong.
Thanks for your comment Mary. We are hoping Mitch will appear again soon. However we believe that since this video hit the web he has lost his position as Ranger. We believe he was asked to move on by a senior management in Parks Victoria. Anyway we will be sending you a copy of HG Nelsons Guide to Good Food.
Mitch! What can we say! You are Australia’s veritable bush ranger of the year. Your wealth of knowledge about our bush is incredible. I think all Australian Bush Rangers are jealous of your intellect. LoL!!! Where will you pop up next?….we’ll keep our eyes peeled.
I absolutely loved this video!!!!! It made my day. Thanks.
Mitch Nash is very funny and cool. I liked when Mitch Nash falls over.
Thanks Lachlan. We are glad you find Mitch Nash amusing. We are sending you a gift for taking the time to submit a comment.
Great to hear about the gallery. Thanks for the interview with Mitch, I’ve really been amazed by the depth of botanical knowledge. Not from Mitch’s actual interview, but I have been awestruck. Wonderful vision of the spectacular forest, too.
Thanks Rob. The Warburton Rainforest Gallery is spectacular and well worth a visit.
My husband came across the video and thought it was dead serious. Can you believe it?!! Must be his German sense of humour (or lack thereof).
That was the funniest video, LOL, about the rainforest. Mitch is a very funny man, I am taking the kids up there today, hope we don’t fall!
Love this video.
