Archie Roach is truly a remarkable person. He is a gifted songwriter with a catalogue of songs that capture the human spirit in a powerful and unique way. When his debut album “Charcoal Lane” was released in 1990, the impact was immediate.Songs like “Took the Children Away” speak to the heart, telling the tragic story of the suffering and pain experienced by the “stolen generation”. Do the Yarra Valley was privileged to spend some time with Archie and asked him about his early years growing up in the Yarra Valley and his recent album, Into The Bloodstream that celebrates the joy of being alive, something Archie feels deeply, as he explains in our interview.
For the first time in his thirty + recording career Archie has released a 3CD box set of his live recordings. Titled Archie Roach – The Concert Collection 2012 – 2018 you can order this special collection, which includes a 24-page booklet of photos from across the three concerts.

Archie is an amazing performer. His music should be played in all our schools – it teaches important lessons while at the same time bringing joy – not an easy thing to do. Thanks for this interview.
Archie is a walking talking HUMAN miracle.
The spirit in that very last burst of interview is remarkable, one of his clearest ever expressions of what makes his heart sing.
The interview was great. Nicely done.
This is a very moving interview. I had no idea Archie had been through so much in the last few years. To produce such uplifting music is a testimony to Archie and the human spirit. Thanks for the interview. I feel better for having watched it!
