A hidden gem in the Yarra Valley.
Having visited museums all around the world, it gives us great pride to discover a truly world class museum right here in the Yarra Valley. The Yarra Ranges Regional Museum opened in 2011 and comprises three exhibition spaces, a museum shop and cafe.

We visited the museum and were given a tour by Maggi Solly, the museum director. She explained that as well as the permanent collection, the temporary exhibitions feature Rolling Stone magazine covers to art from Holocaust survivors.

The museum features a special collection of letters, photographs, audio recordings and personal objects relating to Dame Nellie Melba, Australia’s first international opera star.

The museum isn’t huge, so you won’t have to worry about getting lost.
What’s there, however, is certainly as good as anything we have seen anywhere. While you’re there you simply must sample the delicious food on offer at the Harvest Cafe. Run by the Healesville Hotel, it’s a relaxed, friendly cafe with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors and overlooks Melba Park.

OPENING HOURS
Yarra Ranges Regional Museum is open from 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week.
