A hidden gem in the Yarra Valley.
Having visited museums all around the world, it gives us great pride to discover a truly world class museum right here in the Yarra Valley. The Yarra Ranges Regional Museum opened in 2011 and comprises three exhibition spaces, a museum shop and cafe.

We visited the museum and were given a tour by Maggi Solly, the museum director. She explained that as well as the permanent collection, the temporary exhibitions feature Rolling Stone magazine covers to art from Holocaust survivors.
The museum features a special collection of letters, photographs, audio recordings and personal objects relating to Dame Nellie Melba, Australia’s first international opera star.

The museum isn’t huge, so you won’t have to worry about getting lost.
What’s there, however, is certainly as good as anything we have seen anywhere. While you’re there you simply must sample the delicious food on offer at the Harvest Cafe. Run by the Healesville Hotel, it’s a relaxed, friendly cafe with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors and overlooks Melba Park.

Looks way better then I imagined. Will have to pay it a visit and check it out.
I didn’t realise there was a museum in Lilydale. It looks interesting, will have to make a visit soon.
I had no idea how good this Museum is. The food alone at the restaurant makes me want to visit.
We agree with all your comments. We were amazed at the quality of this museum. It deserves to receive more attention than it does as it truly is a world class facility.
Hidden gem …. Straight on the to do list!
I took my mum there after a chemotherapy treatment. We toured the museum and ate in the cafe. It made her day and lifted her spirits. Thanks, we wouldn’t have known about it if it wasn’t for the video.
