Healesville Sanctuary is encouraging everyone to come out of hibernation this winter and help them put a freeze on extinction. “You’ll need your winter woollies and gumboots as you discover some of our most precious endangered animals that live above the snowline,” Mr Holland said. “In our magical wild winter wonderland, experience faux snow play and be on the look-out for our Ice Queen as she helps you discover how animals survive in the coolest climate.”
Around the campfire, keepers will be telling some of Australia’s favourite classic children’s stories.
Murrundindi, in his possum skin cloak, will share dreaming stories and show visitors some traditional fire-stick, fire making.
Roaring open fires, warming winter soups, damper, mulled cider and delicious roast lunch; what more could you want in the depths of winter!
