Every year Spring is welcomed in the Yarra Valley with the Tesselaars Tulip Festival, providing a huge splash of vibrant colour that can only be described as “eye blowing”! It’s no wonder Tulips have enchanted Sultans and Kings, inspired artists and writers and enchanted nations.
It’s Tulip time at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Now in it’s 66th year, this much loved event has been running annually since 1954 and this year promises to be the best ever.
More than a million spring flowering bulbs including almost a million Tulips are on show throughout the festival. Enjoy the sculptures, pat the alpacas, indulge in traditional Dutch foods and other treats. They have live entertainment on stage every day.
In order to breath new life into this well established event, Tesselaar’s have introduced a number of themed days, including; Turkish Weekend, Dutch Weekend, Irish Weekend, Children’s Days, Rock the Fields Weekend, and Food Wine and Jazz Weekend.
They even have the Australia’s largest wooden shoe on display at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Visitors are welcome to try it on for a photo!
Every day outside of Children’s Days we have a touch of Dutch with Our Clog Dancing Workshop at Noon and 2pm, see how it is done and give it a whirl. Plus our Historic Cheese Market performance where you see amazing spectacle of how Dutch cheeses were bought and sold.
