It all began decades ago, when Moët & Chandon dared to dream differently, believing that the unknown could deliver brilliant opportunity. Produce superlative sparkling wines outside its hallowed French terroir? Mais bien sûr!

During the mid-1980s, in a flash of serendipity, a team of Chandon’s wine whisperers struck gold at Green Point, an old dairy farm in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. The cool climate and great soil combined to make a picture-perfect home for Domaine Chandon. Since 1986, this is where Australia’s leading méthode traditionnelle producer has been confidently crafting sparkling and still wines that are stamped with the distinct style that is Chandon.

A visit to Chandon can encompass many things. Offered are tours of the winery, where “Moët & Chandon’s vision is brought to life in our Victorian wonderland. Learn from the masters about what makes méthode traditionelle so special, and gain insights into the history and cool-climate locale.”

Visitors can also “grab the opportunity to discover a new favourite as our experts lead the way through Chandon’s flight of sparkling and still wines. Our cool-climate craft is on show at the Tasting Bar and our team is ready to reveal the secrets behind Chandon’s inimitable style and know-how.” Groups of up to 10 guests are welcome at the tasting bar, but groups of 10 or more are required to book.

Their extensive and exemplary range of both sparkling and still wines is also available to purchase directly from their cellar door.

Domaine Chandon’s restaurant, Greenpoint Brasserie, offers European fare along with spectacular 270-degree views of the estate.

The cuisine is designed deliberately to complement Chandon’s wines, leading to new “wine horizons” and “beautiful surprises”.

The Chandon experience also comprises an established wine club. Members of the club enjoy one bottle each of still and sparkling wine delivered to their chosen address every two months, accompanied by tasting notes and Chandon’s newsletter. Exclusive member perks also include a free tasting at the cellar door, entry to member-only events, and a complimentary ticket to Chandon’s Sunday School, a behind-the-scenes wine appreciation tour and tasting, valued at $75.
