Carriage Cafe – Seville

The Carriage Cafe on the Warburton Trail in Seville is truly one of the hidden gems of the Yarra Valley. To Melanie, the owner and creator,  putting a railway carriage on a bike trail that used to be a railway line, “seemed kind of obvious” and as obvious as it may be, it certainly doesn’t lessen the achievement or the style with which it has been executed.

What’s great about the Carriage Cafe? In short – everything! The carriage has been restored, the compartments fitted-out with tables and an impressive platform constructed for outdoor dining. The food is modern-Australian, the prices are cheap, the atmosphere is relaxed and the view overlooks the trail. If you get the feeling we are big fans of the Carriage Cafe – you are right. We love it. It’s businesses like this that deserve the recognition and support of the public. Why? Because it’s just so well done!

This looks well worth a visit. Someone told me about it, but I had no idea what it was like. The owner should be congratulated for having the initiative to get this up and running.

Thanks Dave. We agree with you, Melanie (the owner and creator) deserves a pat on the back! It is quite an achievement to get a business like this of the ground. We hope lots of people get on their bikes and visit. PS don’t forget you can park at the Seville station car park and walk down the Warburton Trail (4 minutes) to get there as well.

I grew up in Seville many years ago. I return regularly to see my parents. They were the ones who told me about the carriage cafe so I venture down to have a look. It is a great little place and really well worth a stop if you are walking or cycling the Warby Trail.

Thanks for taking the time to add your comment Paul.

I love this cafe, so cosy. The food is great also. Nice wheely at the end.

  8. Kingerz says:

Brilliant. Not only can you drive or walk there, it even has places for horses to tie up! And of course it’s perfect for bikes. I like the milkshakes for kids and they love the train as it’s just like the old ones in Harry Potter. The best idea on the Trail.
